FOUR MORE DAYS TO HELP THE KIDS AT ST. JUDE! Plus, How to be Thankful for a Little Stomach Bug.

hollis4JFJTwo days ago, I woke up with a really bad stomachache and headache.  I ended up throwing up for about three hours. Throwing up stinks.  Everybody knows that. And I had to miss my first soccer practice ever. But after a few hours, I felt so much better, and the next day I was perfectly fine.  The kids at St. Jude sometimes throw up a lot, because their chemo makes them sick. It lasts a long time. Much more than just three hours. And they miss more than one soccer practice.

I hope you will think about the kids at St. Jude during these last four days of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and DONATE TO ST. JUDE here and now. I’m going to get out and juggle on video tomorrow, since I don’t have a soccer game, and I’ll be hoping for every last penny I can raise to help the kids at St. Jude.

Right now we are at $32,225.  $35,000 has a much nicer ring to it! 🙂

Thank you so much for your donation and your support!

Every Kid Should get to Grow Up and Be SOMETHING! Please Help the Kids at St. Jude Reach for the Stars!

Screen Shot 2014-09-16 at 8.42.17 PMWhen I grow up, I want to be a professional soccer player, a dancer, a Broadway or movie star, and most of all run my parents’ gyms.

Kids with cancer have big hopes and dreams just like me!  Here is a video showing some of the St. Jude Hospital kids talking about what they want to be when they grow up.  Your donation to St. Jude can help make sure these kids and others like them will be able to grow up and be what they want to be.  Remember that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and the end of Juggling for Jude, so please DONATE now!

Thanks for your support!

It’s my Birthday Today! I’m 10! A Donation to St. Jude Would Make a Great Gift! Plus, Learning about Hoping and Wishing.

DOUBLE DIGITS TODAY!

If you haven’t donated to St. Jude yet, maybe you can consider doing that today as a birthday gift to me! 🙂

My mom and I were looking at the St. Jude website yesterday. We found out how important hope is for kids with cancer and their families. Since I’m going to be blowing out candles and making birthday wishes today, my mom thought it would be good for me to read something on the St. Jude website that talks about the difference between wishing and hoping. I’m lucky that I can make birthday wishes. For the kids at St. Jude, hoping is more important. And donations can help bring hope to more kids with cancer and their families.  My hope is that in the future the kids there can make more wishes!

Back to School! It’s Time to Reflect on Juggling for Jude. Plus, We Still Need More Donations for St. Jude Hospital. Let’s See How Close to $40,000 we can Get!

JugglingforJudeonbeach

I’m going back to school tomorrow, and since my mom is a psychologist, she suggested that I take some time to reflect on my summer experience of raising money for St. Jude Hospital.  I’m not done yet! My donation page is still open till the end of September, and I plan to keep asking for donations!  But the daily juggling is done and now it’s time to get back to school.  Juggling for Jude has been a GREAT experience, and I have definitely learned a whole lot. I think I look at life in a different way now.

*I’ve learned that you can always make a change in the world.

*I’ve learned that small people can be capable of wonderful things.

*I’ve learned that I’m a good soccer juggler.

*I’ve learned that you can really do anything you set your mind to. It’s not just a quote–it’s really a true story! 🙂  (My mom likes this one the best)!

*I’ve learned that St. Jude is a great hospital and every kid should feel thankful that St. Jude exists. Even if you don’t have cancer, because they work to find cures, and really you never know what the future holds.

*I’ve learned that kids with cancer at St. Jude are the ones really doing the hard work.

*I’ve learned that you should always set your sights and goals high.  The more you strive for, the more you will accomplish.

*I’ve learned that if you push through the hard parts in life, even when it feels really hard, there’s usually a light at the end of the tunnel.  You just have to keep with it.

*I’ve learned that there are amazing people in the world and many of them donated for Juggling for Jude. People can really come together to make a difference, and I am so lucky that people did that for my fundraiser.

Thank you for your support and your donations so far. And don’t forget, I’M NOT QUITE DONE YET!  My DONATION PAGE will stay open through the end of September in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, so please donate if you can and tell ALL of your friends and family to donate.  I really think we can get closer to $40,000, and that would mean more help for the kids at St. Jude who are fighting every second of every day! So, let’s go for it!

Oh, and one last thing: I still want to be on The Ellen Show. I think it would be super fun (I mean she’s funny, and I’m funny!), and I could juggle, and we could raise more money for St. Jude. So if you know how to help make that happen, please help!

Thanks for your support!

THANK GOODNESS FOR SISTERS! Plus, We are Still Collecting Donations for St. Jude Hospital. They take Care of Sisters There, Too!

GirlssippinginHawaiiThis is my favorite picture of the summer.  That’s me and my sister, Lyle, sharing a smoothie in Hawaii after I had juggled one very hot morning. Today’s post is all about Lyle’s support of Juggling for Jude.  Lyle has been so supportive ALL SUMMER LONG. She has had to put up with all of the talk in our family about Juggling for Jude and has been with me while I juggled almost every single time. She has counted for me, carried water bottles, and held our dog, Pete, so he didn’t get in my way.  You can’t do something as big as Juggling for Jude without your sister’s support, so THANK YOU, LYLE!

When a child gets cancer, it becomes something the whole family deals with.  At St. Jude Hospital, there are specialists there who help siblings of the kids with cancer get through their feelings.  They also put on all sorts of events for siblings. You can find out all about some of those fun events here.  St. Jude also pays for a parent to stay near the hospital when families come from far away.  I’m sure the kids at St. Jude would need their families to be there as much as possible, so this is another amazing thing that your donation can help support.

Please remember, my donation page will be open through the end of September. It’s Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, plus my birthday is in September, so I’m hoping to get lots of more money donated to St. Jude!  YOU CAN DONATE HERE, and please tell your friends, too!  🙂

Thank you for your support!

WE HAVE RAISED MORE THAN $30,000 for ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL! Plus Some Other Great Stuff!

lettertoEllen

Thanks to so many amazing people, I have now officially raised more than $30,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! I can’t even believe it! What started as an idea my mom and I talked about just before school ended has become something so big and so awesome for such an important cause.  Today we got a VERY generous donation from friends of my parents who have known my dad since 1994! They don’t see each other any more, but they heard about Juggling for Jude on Facebook. That is so cool!  And yesterday my mom’s friend from high school donated!  He says I take after my mom because she was a soccer player, but she says she could never juggle 461 times! 🙂

Did you know that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month?  It is extra important this month to think about kids who are fighting cancer, at St. Jude and at other places. Some day I hope that I can go to St. Jude to learn more about what they do there in person. I think that would be an amazing experience.  It might be sad but it would also be really hopeful. My mom says we will make that trip happen soon.  I really can’t wait!

Thank you so much for your support. Please keep spreading the word and DONATE HERE!  We are collecting donations through September!

And by the way, if you haven’t heard, I want to be able to tell my story on The Ellen Show, so please share this video and tag theellenshow on Facebook and Twitter. I don’t really know what that means, but my mom told me to write that.

Here’s the video:  http://bit.ly/1w4BEnp

THANK YOU!

Day 53: A Whole Lot of Math Adding up My Juggles. Plus, September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!

HollisTourneyOn my last official day of Juggling for Jude, I got 461 juggles in a row–a new record.  Then, I had a fun soccer tournament over the weekend.  After my games, I was at my friend’s house, and I juggled 210 with bare feet. But I didn’t get it on video, so it’s not official.  🙂

Yesterday, my mom and I added up my daily records for the summer.  The total of my highest juggles each day was 7,644.  I juggled 52 times, including the times when I broke my toe and didn’t do that many, so my average high for each day is 147 juggles.  For those of you who pledged to donate based on my records, now you have the numbers you need to figure out how much to donate.  Really, you should just give what you can, because every donation helps St. Jude!

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, so it’s a great time to donate to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  My donation page will be open all month, so please keep spreading the word so I can keep raising money for this great place.  The kids there need our help!  PLEASE DONATE HERE!

We are almost at $30,000!  Let’s get there!

Thank you so much for your support!
